Mfangano Island Care and Compassion Ministry, a Christian CBO, operates on Lake Victoria’s Mfangano Island, serving a population of about 30,000. The organization focuses on providing community healthcare, particularly for non-communicable diseases, through various initiatives. These include drug donations, medical camps, patient follow-ups, and a medical fund for children with chronic conditions. The CBO also addresses broader health and social issues by conducting sensitization and advocacy programs on gender-based violence, mental health, child protection, and non-communicable diseases. Working in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and relying on donations and volunteers, the organization supports 72 beneficiaries monthly, with an average cost of $35 per individual. Their mission is to improve the health and well-being of the island’s vulnerable population, emphasizing compassionate care and community support.
